The social and economic impact that occurs with the consumption of fast fashion is ideal for some but we at Maryam’s Mark & Co brand ourselves on taking our time to tend and grow into a sustainable environmentally safe, mostly hands-on brand approach while being a conscious creative organization.
Slow fashion is the movement of designing, creating, and buying garments for quality and longevity. It encourages slower production schedules, fair wages, lower carbon footprints, and (ideally) zero waste; identify sustainable fashion solutions, based on the repositioning of strategies of design, slow fashion involves local artisans and the use of some Eco-friendly materials, with the goal of preserving crafts and the environment and, ultimately, provide value to both consumers and producers.
The slow fashion movement has been studied by Kate Fletcher, a researcher, author, consultant, and design activist, and the author of Sustainable Fashion and Textiles. Her writings integrated design thinking with fashion and textiles as a necessary way to move towards a more sustainable fashion industry.
